Vision StatementIn the summer of 2009, Polly Howell spent seven weeks sleeping on a dirt floor in NW India in a community without toilets or electricity. On the last Saturday there, she had a group of kids perform a small musical program for the community. When she looked out at the audience she saw three men making videos with their cell phones. She later learned that the videos had been sent to many of the neighboring villages. What can we learn from this?
The cell phone is the singular invention of man that has literally covered the earth. People who do not have toilets have cell phones. Increasingly, the cell phones that are being deployed into these homes have video cameras. The video camera requires disk storage and a player to view videos. Wow! People denied knowledge of God now have media players in their homes. The church on the other side of the “digital divide” can distribute Bibles and valuable Christian literature to people everywhere. Our mission is to train and equip indigenous Mobile Evangelists globally, empowering them to create instances of viral distribution of Christian media in their communities. Mission and ministry organizations can use our resources to create their own projects and programs using their resources and the materials and strategies developed over several years of research and field work by Kiosk Evangelism.. We provide..
We are building a library of royalty free mobile Christian content that includes among other things, the Jesus Film in 42 mobile-friendly segments and digital recordings from Global Recording Networks. . We are focused on audio and video content for oral learners. Will we do it? As technology evolves, we will find many ways to accomplish this holy task. Today, the cost of minutes, the unreliability of shared bandwidth (Can you hear me now?) and the almost impossible task of letting people know that they can get God’s word on their cell phone requires energy and creativity. Large scale deployment of touch screen kiosks (kiosks and hotspots) in bus stations and railroad stations using sophisticated server management technologies offers a meaningful step forward in the process of publishing the gospel to the ends of the earth.
