Confederate Major General Douglas Ramseur

Each room in the house bears the name of a branch of the distinguished family who built the Woodside, the Caleb Hazard Richmond family. General Stephen Dodson Ramseur was a nephew of Mr. Richmond, and a distinguished Civil War hero. He eventually married his first cousin, Ellen Richmond, but was tragically killed in battle less than one year later.
